Western Culture Card Deck

This Western culture design card deck was a design task I produced in my Graphic Design Cert IV course at Hornsby TAFE 2021. We were assigned to produce four playing card faces consisting of a king or queen and three number cards, as well as the back of the cards.

I chose American traditional tattooing as my Western culture design subject because I am very interested in tattoo culture and was inspired by how it has transitioned from a cultural native artform into a large industry.

I wanted my designs to resemble the American traditional tattoo artform accurately so I only used the traditional colours that are seen in these tattoo designs as well as there thick black borders.

I loved designing these playing card faces and hope one day I’ll finish the deck to print for myself.
