DG Magazine

DG Magazine was a design task I produced in my Graphic Design Diploma course at Hornsby TAFE 2022. We were given a brief to design a DG Magazine cover with the subject “Famous Designers”.

As I have a great love for tattoo culture and traditional tattoo art, I decided to design a bust of the famous American traditional tattooist Sailor Jerry.

In the bust design I have chosen to incorporate the flags and flowers from the country Sailor Jerry was from and where his tattooing started, America and Hawaii. I chose to frame his bust in a rope frame design commonly seen in his tattoos. I tried to stick to the American traditional tattoo style and colours as well as the addition of skin tones.

I really enjoyed creating this design and achieving my overall design concept. I would love to produce more work like this in the future.
